What are some of the benefits of having a Birth Doula?

Studies have shown a very high number of positive birth outcomes when a doula was present. The benefits go beyond physical and emotional support.

Decreased Need For Pain Medication

Women who have a Doula have a decreased need for pain medication, which can help them to achieve the birth that they desire.

Continuous Support

Having the support of a Doula can greatly prepare you for birth, and help you to feel more peace of mind knowing there will be someone else there during your labor to advocate for your desires. They are also there to talk at any point in the day if you have a question or could use some encouragement.

Reduced Rate Of C-Section

Studies have shown that there is a reduced rate of C-section amongst women who have a Doula.

Informational Support

Informational support is a very helpful benefit in your pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum periods. Doulas want to help you to understand all of your options, and all of the benefits or risks potentially involved with them. When you have a Birth Doula, you can rest easy knowing that they have your best interest in mind and want to support you by giving all the information they can to help you be prepared.

Helpful Referrals

Whether someone is looking for a Chiropractor, Massage Therapist, or Acupuncturist, Doulas can provide helpful referrals for services that may be beneficial before or after birth.

Advocacy

Birth Doulas are there to support you in achieving the birth that you desire. That involves advocating for your desires in labor. They will never speak for you, but they will help you and your partner’s voice to be heard.

  • No, I don’t offer Discounts. But I understand how price can be a factor in whether or not you choose to hire a doula, and I want to help you to the best of my ability. I offer payment plans to help take the pressure off of making one payment.

  • Doulas can be so very helpful when you are having an epidural. When you are stuck in bed, it can be very helpful to have someone who is able to encourage as well as help you with different seated or lying labor positions to help baby to be in the best position and move down.

  • Having a supportive partner is SO helpful in labor! Not only does it help you to feel more relaxed and calm, but it also helps your labor to progress quicker when you have that support. A good Doula would never take away from that bond or experience, but rather strengthen it. It would also give your partner the tools he may need to help you feel even more comfortable. It would also take pressure off of him so he could take a moment to leave and get a snack or do what he may need to without leaving you alone.

  • Having a Doula when having a home birth is still so very helpful. Just because you are having a home birth doesn’t meant you wouldn’t benefit from a Doula. Having a Doula ensures you have someone who can encourage and support you, as well as help you with different labor positions and any other things that may benefit you in labor. Just because you are having a home birth doesn’t mean you dont need support.
